Hello, hello Hello beautiful people and welcome
Grace Oben:back to Magnetize podcast. It's your girl Grace Oben. And today
Grace Oben:I want to share with you on focus, the acronym focus, F or C
Grace Oben:U S. Focus is an is an acronym that I came up with during one
Grace Oben:of the very difficult, confusing and challenging phase of my
Grace Oben:life. That really, really helped me navigate my way through the
Grace Oben:storms, the speed bumps, the stop signs, the tire, some
Grace Oben:debilitating tides, that were just holding me back and
Grace Oben:blocking may be coming. And I'm really hoping that this is going
Grace Oben:to help you. So if you are in a phase, if you are going through
Grace Oben:some really challenges, if you are in that phase where you just
Grace Oben:feel so stuck, you're not even sure what to do, how to move
Grace Oben:forward, there just so much standing in your way, then this
Grace Oben:is for you. So the first letter, which is F is facing your fears,
Grace Oben:facing your fears. Fear is an emotion that can be both
Grace Oben:powerful and paralyzing. But it's important to remember that
Grace Oben:it doesn't have to control us fear doesn't have to control us.
Grace Oben:It's a very complex emotion that affects all of us at different
Grace Oben:times in our lives. And it can prevent us from reaching our
Grace Oben:full potential. Overcoming Fear is a courageous and empowering
Grace Oben:process. Just Just think about a time that you had a fear for
Grace Oben:something you had a particular fear. It could be that it could
Grace Oben:be fear, for fear of driving a car, right fear of driving a
Grace Oben:car. And you overcame that fear. And now you, you you cruise when
Grace Oben:you're driving you just cruising. So fear can can be a
Grace Oben:very encouraging and empowering process. It involves
Grace Oben:acknowledging it. So we don't have to be in denial. When we
Grace Oben:have fear for something, we don't have to deny it. Because
Grace Oben:we don't want people to know that we have fear for that
Grace Oben:thing. Or we have that fear. We are to acknowledge fear, when we
Grace Oben:all feel afraid. When we want to take a step and we that fear
Grace Oben:comes in or steps in. We want to acknowledge it. And then we want
Grace Oben:to understand its root causes. Why do I have this fear? Why
Grace Oben:every time I think of doing some this thing, I have this fear.
Grace Oben:Maybe it's fear of flying, being on a plane. You want to
Grace Oben:acknowledge that fear, but they also want to understand the root
Grace Oben:cause of that fear. Why am I afraid of flying? If that's the
Grace Oben:case. And then you want to gradually, gradually challange
Grace Oben:yourself to face and conquer the fear. It's a gradual process.
Grace Oben:Because probably that fear is the root cause of that fear is
Grace Oben:some kind of trauma, some experience some terrible
Grace Oben:experience. It could be a traumatic effect, right? It
Grace Oben:could be a terrible experience you had or a family members of a
Grace Oben:family member of yours or someone you know a friend. Right
Grace Oben:so you want to gradually challenge yourself to face and
Grace Oben:conquer that fear.
Grace Oben:And here are some of the tips on how to face and call Conquer
Grace Oben:your fears. One, you want to understand your fear. You want
Grace Oben:to start by identifying and understanding the root causes
Grace Oben:the root causes of your fear fear because knowing what
Grace Oben:triggers your fear allows you to address it more effectively.
Grace Oben:When you know what triggers that fear, then you will be able to
Grace Oben:address that fear effectively. The second tip on how to face
Grace Oben:and conquer your fear is challenge your thoughts
Grace Oben:challenge your thoughts. Often fear is a fool, by fear is for
Grace Oben:by irrational thinking and negative beliefs. So, try to
Grace Oben:challenge those thoughts and and replace them with a more
Grace Oben:positive and realistic outcome. Alright, realistic one. So
Grace Oben:challenge those thoughts and replace those thoughts with a
Grace Oben:more positive and realistic ones. I remember reading a book
Grace Oben:by Jack Canfield. And the book is tied to the success
Grace Oben:principles. I was reading this book and in that book, he shared
Grace Oben:a story. That one time he was flying to somewhere and then
Grace Oben:there was this lady, this lady sitting by besides him. And he
Grace Oben:noticed that she was so tense and was just holding on to the
Grace Oben:rest of the of her seat on the point. She was so tensed. And he
Grace Oben:decided to engage her in a conversation and ask her, Oh,
Grace Oben:are you okay? And she said, No, that she's so afraid of lying.
Grace Oben:And he asked her where she was going. And she told her, told he
Grace Oben:where he or she was going, she was going to Disneyland and she
Grace Oben:was meeting her grandkids there. And her has had a daughter and
Grace Oben:the husband and their kids. So it was a family trip and she was
Grace Oben:going to meet them there. And he helped her through an exercise.
Grace Oben:And he told her to close her eyes. And imagine herself
Grace Oben:already at Disneyland having fun with her grandkids and her
Grace Oben:daughter and the daughter's husband and her son in law, just
Grace Oben:the whole experience. And she was able to close her eyes and
Grace Oben:she was able to visualize and she was able to see herself
Grace Oben:already in Disneyland having fun with her great grandchildren and
Grace Oben:her daughter and her son in law. And that helped her relaxed as
Grace Oben:her she was so relaxed, she was able to you know, continue that
Grace Oben:whole flight with so much ease and because she had seen the end
Grace Oben:result. Remember, fear is often based on assumptions rather than
Grace Oben:concrete evidence. So replacing those thoughts with more
Grace Oben:positive ones, those negative thoughts, those fearful types
Grace Oben:with a more positive ones. Take the third tip is take small
Grace Oben:steps. facing your fears head on can be overwhelming. Instead
Grace Oben:break them down break your fears down into smaller manageable
Grace Oben:steps. Gradually expose yourself to the source of your fear and
Grace Oben:then slowly expanding your comfort level. For example, if
Grace Oben:you have fear of driving, you want to first start with driving
Grace Oben:away there no traffic maybe in a parking lot Write slowly. You
Grace Oben:want to do it slowly. I have a friend. She's so afraid of
Grace Oben:driving. And her biggest fear is what if she's climbing a hill,
Grace Oben:and then the traffic lights tends to read and she has to
Grace Oben:stop on that feel her fear is to take off. And because of this
Grace Oben:fear, she will leave our car in the garage and take the public
Grace Oben:trust, what can you imagine what fear can do? Fear will cripple
Grace Oben:the year. Can you imagine that sign has it cart, the door
Grace Oben:rather take the public transport to drop off, had kids in school,
Grace Oben:and even go to work while her car is parked in the garage. You
Grace Oben:know, so you want to gradually expose yourself to the source of
Grace Oben:your fear, and then slowly expanding your comfort zone.
Grace Oben:While she knows she no longer have that fear, because she was
Grace Oben:able to face our fear. And she dealt with that fear. So now
Grace Oben:she's fine, you too, can do the same. The fourth tip is seek
Grace Oben:support. It's important to surround yourself with a
Grace Oben:supportive network of friends, family, or even a terrorist who
Grace Oben:can provide encouragement and guidance as you face your fears.
Grace Oben:Seek for support. If you need to see an expert to help you with
Grace Oben:this fear, do so. So you can free yourself. So you no longer
Grace Oben:in bondage. Sharing your fears with others can sometimes
Grace Oben:elevate their intensity. Will you share your friend your fears
Grace Oben:with friends or family members, they can help encourage you.
Grace Oben:They can also share them their own fears and say, Hey, I used
Grace Oben:to have this fear. This is what I did. This is how I faced that
Grace Oben:fear. And this is how I overcame that fear. The fifth tip is
Grace Oben:embrace failure and learn from it. Don't be discouraged by
Grace Oben:setbacks or failures along the way. When you try to face your
Grace Oben:fear, and you get in the middle of it and you're not able to
Grace Oben:push through, don't be discouraged.
Grace Oben:Don't be discouraged. Remember, it's a gradual process. It's a
Grace Oben:gradual process. So don't be discouraged when you take the
Grace Oben:leap of faith when you mount courage to face that fear. And
Grace Oben:then you get right in the middle of like, Oh no, I can't do this.
Grace Oben:Don't be discouraged. Just the fact that you took that step to
Grace Oben:even attempt to face it means you got somewhere you made some
Grace Oben:progress, no matter how small it was. So don't be discouraged.
Grace Oben:Overcoming Fear is a learning process. And setbacks are a part
Grace Oben:of that journey. Use them as an opportunity to learn as an
Grace Oben:opportunity to grow. And also to adjust your approach. Maybe the
Grace Oben:approach you took was not the greatest. Maybe you just move
Grace Oben:from so afraid to do it to just jump into trying to do it.
Grace Oben:Right. So you might want to look at the approach you use. So you
Grace Oben:might want to make some adjustments to that approach.
Grace Oben:Right. The sixth and final tip on how to face and conquer your
Grace Oben:fears is practice self care. self care is so important.
Grace Oben:Taking care of your mental and your physical well being can
Grace Oben:help you build resilience and courage, you know, engage in
Grace Oben:inaction DVTs that brings you joy and activities that bring
Grace Oben:you joy activities that makes you makes you feel relaxed, your
Grace Oben:mind is relaxed, your body is relaxed. Do some exercise, and
Grace Oben:you don't have to have a gym membership. Exercise does not
Grace Oben:need to cost you extra money. We have YouTube, go on YouTube and
Grace Oben:just look for exercise videos. And then just do them at home.
Grace Oben:If you love hip hop look for hip hop exercises or Afro beats Afro
Grace Oben:walk out exercises, they're usually really short you have
Grace Oben:the ones for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes,
Grace Oben:even for an hour. So you don't necessarily need a gym
Grace Oben:membership. To do movements, I mean, if that is what you want,
Grace Oben:and you can afford it, go for it. Right? Go for it. But if if
Grace Oben:finances an issue is a challenge, then you don't need
Grace Oben:to worry about that. There are even YouTube videos that will
Grace Oben:help you guide you on how to build muscles. Right. So, to
Grace Oben:some exercises, what's your favorite hobby and spend some
Grace Oben:time with loved ones spend some time in nature, take walks with
Grace Oben:friends or by yourself. See, taking care of yourself empowers
Grace Oben:you to face your fears. With a stronger mindset. You need to
Grace Oben:you need to be in a place where you feel strong and healthy
Grace Oben:enough to even have the courage to face your fears. facing your
Grace Oben:fears is a personal journey. Don't let anyone put pressure on
Grace Oben:you. And sometimes friends and family members might be coming
Grace Oben:from a good place and so and try to push and just puts you so
Grace Oben:much pressure oh you can do it you can do it. Girl you can do
Grace Oben:it. What are you can do it come on come on. I know you can do
Grace Oben:it. Yeah, I know you got it and no, but then you are not ready.
Grace Oben:But then you're putting this pressure day to them they are
Grace Oben:motivating you they are empowering you that maybe you
Grace Oben:are not there yet. You are not there yet. So facing your fears
Grace Oben:is a personal journey. And everyone's path is different. So
Grace Oben:take your time. Be patient with yourself. Bless your friends and
Grace Oben:family members, your loved ones tell them if they're trying to
Grace Oben:push you so much pressure. Turn them that please be patient with
Grace Oben:me. Celebrate even the small victories along the way. Every
Grace Oben:step you take in facing and conquering your fears. Every
Grace Oben:step you take celebrated. celebrated. Remember everyone's
Grace Oben:path is different. Just because someone was able to conquer to
Grace Oben:face and conquer their own fears into these in three days in one
Grace Oben:week or in one month or in three months does not necessarily mean
Grace Oben:that you require that same time you may require much more time
Grace Oben:than they did. So be patient with yourself. Take your time
Grace Oben:each your personal journey. You know yourself better. You know
Grace Oben:how much you can accomplish at a particular time. So take your
Grace Oben:time be patient with yourself. So it's your girl Grace oven and
Grace Oben:I'm gonna take the order for the second acronym, which is all
Grace Oben:next week. And this is going to be a five week series. I
Grace Oben:probably didn't mentioned that at the beginning is going to be
Grace Oben:a five week series. I will take off next week. Which is a
Grace Oben:opportunities. It's your girl, Chris O'Brien. And if you are
Grace Oben:out there and you are in that phase of your life, where you
Grace Oben:are filling this void, this emptiness and you're wondering
Grace Oben:what next? Why am I feeling so empty? Why am I feeling this
Grace Oben:emptiness? Or you are in a phase of a major transition, maybe you
Grace Oben:just moved. Or maybe you when you transition in you, you're in
Grace Oben:the face of moving from one career or the other. Oh, you are
Grace Oben:just having that tired of transitioning from where you are
Grace Oben:to somewhere else to something else, that you are not sure how
Grace Oben:I have an amazing program on purpose clarity, that I believe
Grace Oben:we'll help you to clarify that. What what that is. So check out
Grace Oben:my website, Providence guide.com. It's again, again,
Grace Oben:it's your girl, Grace Oben. And see you next week. Bye for now
